doug Doug Barnette
My experience with motorcycles started in the 60's with my first bike, a Cushman Mustang. Most of my experiences were on dirt bikes with a few early 125 cc and 250 cc Yamaha's and Kawasaki's. Besides the Honda's and Harley's I've ridden, and the odd borrowed roommate's bike, I didn't ride motorcycles very much after graduating high school in Miami where I grew up.

I spent most of my young adult life teaching and sailing boats around Florida and then taking up flying Hang Gliders for the better part of 20 years in the Tennessee and Georgia mountains. While here flying in the summer of 76, I met Ellie Bost. Now, after 20 years of marriage, we have a wonderful 4 year old boy named Skyler Ronald Barnette.

In 1997, I purchased a new Ducati 900 SS/SP and began to learn to follow the "ribbon" from a motley crew of some of the best riders in the Tennessee valley. I didn't know this at the time, but I came to understand it after a year or two of following them around and witnessing their skill levels. Some of them have won WERA races as well as national titles. That's not to say I have won anything, just that I feel like a winner riding with them. I currently ride a wonderful superbike, the bike of the decade, a Ducati 996.

Track Day photoI'm also a professional photographer known for being a perfectionist. I'm not sure if that's good or bad, but my creative eye for perspective and composition assures my clients that they can depend on me to "build" their images. With over thirty years of professional experience, I have photographed a wide range of products and specialize in commercial, product, and illustrative advertising photography where lighting technique is uniquely applied. I am a member of Pompone, the oldest motorcycle club in Italy, and have belonged to the Ducati Owners Club of Canada (DOCC). The Photographic Professional organizations I belong to are The Media Photographers Copyright Agency, Inc. (MPŠA), The Media Image Resource Alliance (MIRA), and I have served as the membership director for the Tennessee Chapter of The American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) and I am now an active board member in the Tennessee chapter of ASMP. I operate a commercial photographic studio in Chattanooga, Tennessee, producing advertising campaigns, brochures, and award winning photography for national, as well as local, advertising agencies, corporations, and manufacturers. I have garnered numerous (41) Addy Awards, Printing Industry Awards (8), a Gold Medallion Award, that award being presented by the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations, and the coveted Gold Medallion Book Award, presented by the Evangelical Christian Publishing Association.

My photography is displayed in galleries, corporate offices, and medical institutions throughout the nation, and my riding can be seen in the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee, North and South Carolina and Georgia.

Grazie ciao,
Doug
